How does the Motability Scheme work
To be eligible for the Motability Scheme you must receive one of a number of government benefits or payment schemes, such as Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA) or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS). For more information on eligibility, click here.

The Motability Scheme works by allowing disabled people to lease a brand new car which suits their personal needs and requirements . This lease happens when eligible people swap their government-funded mobility allowance for the lease to a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair vehicle.

Once you’ve found out that you are eligible for the Motability Scheme, and you’ve decided that it’s right for you, then there are a few simple steps for you to follow in order to work out which Motability vehicle is right for you.

Choosing your Motability vehicle
Choosing your vehicle is a key part of the process, which requires you to think about things including cost, suitability and fuel consumption. If you’re not sure about your requirements then speak to one of the Motability Specialists at our showrooms and let them help you make your decision.

As well as working out what type of car suits your needs, you also need to consider which manufacturer best fits your requirements. Here at The FG Barnes Group we can offer Motability vehicles from nimajor car manufacturers: SEAT, Vauxhall, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Nissan, MG, Infiniti, Subaru and Jeep. This means that there is plenty of choice when it comes to cars for disabled people at FG Barnes Group, and you’re sure to find a model that suits.

Completing your order
Once you’ve decided on a Motability vehicle that works for you, our Motability Specialists will help you complete your order through a simple, quick process. They can also give you an estimated delivery time for your chosen model, although they’ll keep you informed about any potential delays during the process. If you want to know more about ordering your own Motability vehicle then check out this video from the Motability Scheme on ordering your car, or contact one of our dedicated members of staff .
